Thoughts on the One Year Anniversary of the Tea Party movement

One year ago, hundreds of Americans took to the streets to protest the Wall Street bailout (TARP) and the massive $800 billion stimulus package. In 50 cities across the country, limited government advocates gathered in major intersections, city parks, national historical places and main streets to speak out with one voice: “Enough Big Government!”

The protests had begun a couple of weeks before, when a lone activist in Florida, Mary Rakovich, organized her friends and family in

How to Organize Your Own “Tea Party” Protest

The internet is abuzz with chatter about organizing protests around the country to put an end to this madness on Wall Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. But I’ve talked to many people out there who have never organized a protest, and so they don’t have a clue where to begin. Here are 10 simple steps that you can follow to organize a protest in your own community. If you want more help, just send me an email at bsteinhauser@freedomworks.org and I’ll work with you one on one to help make your protest… Continue

Hand-Written Letters to Congress are Most Effective

Please note that hand written letters from constituents seem to be the most effective form of communication with Capitol Hill. Note the story from NC below. I think we should encourage our folks to write these letters, bundle other letters from their friends and neighbors, and hand deliver them to local offices (www.senate.gov)

Just something to think about as we continue to pound away against Obamacare and cap and tax.

Thanks!

Protest Obama on his way to the Capitol on Sep. 9th!

If you will be in DC next Wednesday evening, we are asking everyone to line Pennsylvania Ave. between the White House and the Capitol building as Obama makes his way to the capitol to give his big speech on health care. Contact Josh Eboch if you can participate. jeboch@freedomworks.org

Come out any time between 6 and 9pm!

I am very confused. Your event in DC is scheduled for Sept 12th and yet I heard of another March on DC scheduled for Sept 11th. Since our hotel reservation's already made, I would need the correct date. Are there two different protest/rallies in DC on the same weekend?

It is important to put out the fires, but at some point exhaustion will set in. We need to think a little further ahead than just that.

Consider two things:
Where do our members of Congress first form their habits and learn their tricks?
How was our nation formed?

The answer to both of these questions is the same --- at the state level.

Our concentration has been on pleading and demanding of Congress that they do the right thing. From it we win here and there, but it is a losing battle because you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Eventually we will lose if that is all we do.

We have to hit them at the state and city level while they are forming they habits and learning their tricks.

This is what I am doing in North Dakota. I am putting an initiative on the ballot that says:
"Hey, read the bill and allow us to read the final version of it too - BEFORE THE VOTE.

Please contact me to help.

The President just called for a reconciliation vote on health care within the next 2 weeks. People need to come together and have rallies at the offices of house members that may vote for this bill. My congressman, Brad Miller, is one of the Presidents supporters. People need to get together and have rallies at their offices opposing the health care bill.

I hope NC will organize buses again. I've been to Washington so much this year, I'm tapped out. I'm a blogger and would love to cover this and video and photograph the event. If I can catch a ride, I'm on it. Thanks!

Brendan,

Is it true that there will be (2) events this year???? And if so, why? Wouldn't one "huge" event like last year have more of an impact?
